Track League! 2011

17 WEEKS OF TRACK LEAGUE! commences on Thursday May, 5 at 7:00pm This year in addition to the long tradition of Track League! activities we are adding a TEN MILE EVERY WEEK!

That's 277km of track racing alone! **(including neutral lap!)

While the Ten mile will not count to Track League! points I am told by sources that there may be a Title Belt in the works... and everyone likes a title belt.

See you all on the track! :)

City Championships 2010

Twenty of Edmonton's finest track cyclists amassed, ready for battle, at the prestigious Argyll velodrome on September 18th. The usual suspects in the Elite Group were joined by seven recent upgrades who were all looking to prove they had what it took to take on the tack league hardened men of the elite group. In the opening event of the day Maryann Heacock took the first win of the day and the crown of champion of the Bavarian. In the elite group Alex Follis (Velocity) laid the hammer down early to secure 5th spot, behind Oliver Walls(Velocity), Scott Oran(Velocity), with two Juventus riders, Adam Todd and Jeff Bakal taking the top two spots. The 1 mile final started slow in both groups culminating in explosive and close sprints. In the chariot races new to the track rider Heather Stinson put her BMX skills to work to take the expert group b final just ahead of Courtney Oran and Mason Burtnik. The expert A final was hotly contested with World masters medallist Yvonne, full time track worker Meika Ellis, recent bavarian champ Maryann and recent youth provincial championship medalists from the LAMP program. In the Elite group Alex paid for his use of the georgia overdive gearing and didn't make the a final. In the Elite final Peter Hillman got off to a good start ahead of much of the field but then lost his advantage in the big end of the race with Adam Todd came over the top to defend the honor of the Juventus club. By the final 5 mile and 10 mile of the day the official SRM track temperature had more than tripled making these true tests of endurance. The varied speed of the ten mile eventually broke down the field leaving three Velocity riders and one Juventus rider to battle out the finale.. The trio of Oliver Scott and Chris fought hard against the increasing wind only to have Bakal capitalize on an exchange in the headwind to take the finale.

The ten milers will continue until the snow falls, and sticks....
