Note:
- All AVA sessions ( Open Training, Structured Training, ) are “Open” to all members of affiliated cycling clubs provided they have the proper pre- requisites.
** The term “ New Riders” refers to a rider that has no previous track cycling experience.
** NEW ** The Argyll Velodrome association will be booking “ Invitational Group “ sessions for affiliated clubs, with the purpose of welcoming back cyclists who wish to get on the track in an informal setting prior to joining the mainstream program. Contact the Argyll Velodrome Association to reserve a date.
Open Training
These sessions are opportunities for all riders, of all ability levels to ride the velodrome for personal training and enjoyment . We have designated levels of “Open Training”.
Pre Requisite: Rider must be a member of an affiliate club
Level 1 L-1 Novice Has completed Learn to Ride or Equivalent
Level 2 L-2 Intermediate Has completed Learn to Race or Equivalent
Level 3L-3 Advanced
Learn to Ride L-1
This is a mandatory, 4 session, introductory program allowing riders with little or no track riding experience to learn to ride the velodrome, safely and with confidence. This is a competencies based program which will provide fundamental skills for any further advancement. This class is a requirement for enrolment into any other structured training session.
Prerequisite: None
Learn to Ride - Women Only L-1
This is an Introductory program allowing female riders with little or no track riding experience, the opportunity to learn to ride the velodrome safely and with confidence. This is a competencies based program aimed at developing skills and confidence in a women only environment.
Note: We will schedule this event based on demand.
Learn to Race L-2
This is a mandatory, 4 session, Intermediate program allowing riders to advance their skills on the track. This is an important step for riders wishing to race in Track League. This is a competencies based program which will provide fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to become “ Race Ready”.
Prerequisite: Learn to Ride
Note: This requirement may be waived with AVA approval.
Learn to Sprint L-2
This is an intermediate program, allowing riders to advance their skills in sprinting on the track. In these sessions, riders will learn tactics and skills required to compete in various sprint events, including Match Sprint, Team Sprint, and Keirin.
Prerequisite: Learn to Ride
Note: This requirement may be waived with AVA approval.
Structured Training L-1
This is coached level -1 Session, designed to give the rider the opportunity to advance their skills and confidence on the velodrome through guided practice.Session focus will vary depending on demand.

Structured Training L-2
This coached Level-2 Session is designed to give riders the opportunity to advance their skills and confidence on the velodrome through guided practice.Session focus will vary depending on demand.
Note: This requirement may be waived with AVA approval.
Structured Training L-3
This is coached Level -3 Session, designed for Elite riders to improve upon technical elements of track riding and racing. Sessions will be dedicated to improving track racing performance and consist primarily of race simulations and interval training. This session is open to all riders meeting the criteria for Level -3 sessions.

AVRA Sessions (Argyll Velodrome Racing Academy)
AVRA sessions are reserved for members of the cycling academy.

Reserved for members of the LAMP program.
